ANGEL Student Help LibraryLinking to documents in the Student Help Library The Student Help Library is a repository of simple and concise directions on individual ANGEL tasks and media types students will frequently encounter. The help docs cover myriad tasks such as submitting documents to a dropbox and how to use ANGEL mail, to how to test for and obtain video plugins. These documents are best stored in a folder labeled "Technology Walkthrough" or "Orientation". We have found that acclimating your students ANGEL before the course begins reduces redundant questions about ANGEL, and lowers student anxiety about course communications and activities. An even more effective method is using an *orientation quiz that will keep students locked out of your content until they have successfully completed their ANGEL orientation. We have found that once students are acclimated to ANGEL, they focus on course content much more ease, without the stress of learning ANGEL while learning course content. To locate and use the library, follow this path:
Do I link or do I copy?? You've probably noticed you can also copy help docs from the library. For the most part, you should only link documents. When you link documents you maintain a connection between the document you select for your course, and the ANGEL Help Library. This benefits you in that when the document is updated by the vuDAT staff, your document updates too as a result of it being linked. Conversely, when you copy a document, the connection between the document and Library is severed, cutting you off from any updates made to the master document. The only documents you should copy are the very few that are titled "COPY INTO YOUR COURSE". There's a Faculty Help Library too! Great for creating your own custom set of ANGEL help documents, the ANGEL Help Library also has a "Faculty Help Library". The process for adding content from the Faculty Help Library is located at http://vudat.msu.edu/fhl.
