Overview:
In this Series, Dr. Fred Jacobs and Dr. Anthony Ross present case studies in two honorable mention 2008 AT&T Award courses, ACC 230: Survey of Accounting and MSC 881: Global Logistics.

To begin, Dr. Jacobs will discuss teaching an online course incorporating the two campus Learning Management System (LMS) platforms, ANGEL and LON CAPA. The course, ACC 230 is a requirement in more than 20 undergraduate majors outside its home in the College of Business. Through thoughtful design and Camtasia video podcasts, students are taken through the course content, and given the opportunity to learn in an innovative and collaborative way. Dr. Jacobs will discuss the course’s pedagogical concepts, as well as some of the challenges of teaching in this dual environment, and how they are addressed.

Dr. Anthony Ross teaches MSC 881 using ANGEL and Adobe Connect (formerly Breeze Meeting). Each course begins with an embedded videocast, and Adobe Connect makes it possible for this course to facilitate collaborative learning among working professionals in a widespread number of geographical locations. Dr. Ross will discuss the design behind the course, and the challenges and solutions videocasting affords.
