Online education is still a relatively new field, as are web-based technologies. Therefore we find the nomenclature still evolving. While others may apply differing definitions, MSU defines Fully Online, Blended, and Enhanced as follows:

• Fully Online: A course which meets wholly online utilizing no classroom time. Exams may be proctored.
• Blended: An in-person class in which online tools and activities replace some but not all scheduled class meeting time.
• Enhanced: An in-person class which meets the traditional amount of time, and in which online tools are used effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
