In-class activities such as using an overhead projector, writing on the blackboard, showing a paper, or browsing a web page can also be recorded and edited using the following tools.
- Camtasia is a desktop recording application which records every action on the computer monitor. It records user-specified areas of the monitor. It is particularly useful for recording demonstrations and lectures. The MacOS X equivalent is SnapzProX.
- IVS provides professional equipment and services to record both the audio and video of the lesson. Multiple high quality cameras can be focused on the speaker, the work area or the computer monitor. The resulting video can then be compressed and put online in multiple formats.
- Breeze meeting is a video-conferencing application which allows instructors to use a whiteboard to share drawings and recording options to record a live lecture. Breeze meeting files are saved on the MSU Breeze server; they cannot be downloaded or saved elsewhere. Breeze meeting is running as a pilot and pre-approval is required.
