Be aware of the shortened timeframe for a summer course. You may not have time to devote the first week to allow students to explore the course and the Learning Management System (LMS). Consider making an orientation available to students in advance, perhaps having them complete an orientation module prior to day one of the course.

If you are offering your course in a half-semester, be sure the content and tasks that you require can be performed in that shortened timeframe.
